The beef industry can reduce emissions up to 30% by taking actionable next steps outlined in new research from experts at the Institute on the Environment University of Minnesota and The Nature Conservancy, published in the peer-reviewed journal "Nature Food." IonE Research Scientist Rylie Pelton and collaborators, including Jennifer Schmitt, Nathaniel Springer, and Deepak Ray, applied the first location-specific life cycle assessment of the beef industry. Their groundbreaking research pinpointed emission hotspots throughout the entire beef supply chain and provided actionable strategies for U.S. producers to significantly cut greenhouse gas emissions.
