Yesterday, we had the privilege of distributing 40,000 pounds of frozen fish, meats, and healthy foods to 28 soup kitchens, pantries, and community centers across Long Island— and we did it in just TWO hours! 🚚💨 Our incredible staff and volunteers worked tirelessly, and thanks to their efforts, 32,000 meals will be served to those in need. 💙 Full hearts all around. The majority of the proteins were from New York State fish and chicken farmers secured through the Hunger Prevention Assistance Program, a state funded program that assists food banks. This is just one of the many ways our work supports the New York economy AND our neighbors in need! Thank you, Keith Lopez and PIX11 , for spotlighting this important work and Gregory May for being our voice! Join us in ending hunger—visit islandharvest.org to learn how you can help. Together, we can build a hunger-free Long Island. Compassion in Action 💙 Meet John and Andrew, two incredible volunteers with Church of St. Martin of Tours in Bethpage. Every week, they fill their truck with nutritious food to stock the parish’s food pantry, which serves 100 people in need of healthy meals for themselves and their families. We’re proud to support St. Martin's in this mission and truly honored to know John and Andrew who give so generously to their neighbors. 🙌 Help us spread compassion across Long Island! Donate today to help fill the pantry shelves or sign up to volunteer www.islandharvest.org. Meet your neighbors: This is Gloria, 65, from Huntington Station. Her husband visits four supermarkets a week hunting for the lowest prices so that they can have healthy meals in their senior years. With their Social Security income covering only basic household expenses, they rely on Island Harvest’s Senior Food Box program to prepare nutritious meals. We’re honored to support Gloria and her family. Standing with Our Heroes Operation: HOPE and a dedicated troop of Army Reserve Soldiers joined forces at the Northport VA Hospital to serve those who have served us. Together, we distributed over 5,800 lbs. of eggs, dairy, meat, fresh produce, and essential items—providing support to over 273 veterans and active-duty military members in our community. At Island Harvest, we believe no hero should go hungry. Long Island is home to the second-largest veterans community in the nation, and through Operation: HOPE, we are committed to ensuring that veterans, active-duty personnel, and military families facing food insecurity receive the support they deserve. Our veteran-serving-veteran model provides not only food but also peer support and critical services—because we know that sometimes, the best support comes from those who have walked the same path. 🙏 Help us continue this life-changing work. Join us in honoring and serving those who have sacrificed so much. 🌱💚 Beyond impressed by the amazing students from Half Hollow Hills and their dedication to growing, learning, and giving back! Check out the incredible hydroponic farm engineering students created right in their classroom – it’s not just impressive, it’s pounds of fresh food grown every week! 🙌 This “Giving Garden” isn’t just about learning – it’s about making a real impact. The food harvested is generously packed and donated to an Island Harvest partner food pantry, helping feed those in need. 💪 The HHH students didn’t stop there! They also jumped in to kick off the new season at our Brentwood farm, helping prep seedlings for our 2-acre organic farm and to support Giving Gardens across Long Island. 🌿💚 Want to create a garden that gives back too? Reach out to our farmer Cassidy at cassidy@islandharvest.org. We’ve got supplies to help YOU grow a Giving Garden, including: • Planting trays 🌱 • Seeds & Plant starts 🌻 • Garden tools 🛠️ • Gloves, Hoses, & Watering cans 💧 • Compost & Fertilizer 🌾 Let’s grow together and help feed our neighbors! 🌍 #GivingBack #CommunityFarm #SustainableFuture #IslandHarvest #HydroponicFarm #GardensThatGive #GrowingGarden #HHHCSD

Today is a critical moment in the campaign to end hunger. Right now, hundreds of people, including advocates with lived experience facing hunger, representing food banks from across the country are in Washington, D.C., including Island Harvest’s president and CEO Randi Shubin Dresner. They're meeting face-to-face with lawmakers to make one thing clear: Federal nutrition programs—especially the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)—need to stay strong to help ensure everyone has access to the healthy foods we all need to thrive. You can help amplify this message. While food bankers speak directly to Congress, add your voice by asking lawmakers to protect critical anti-hunger programs: https://loom.ly/nTNCI60 Food insecurity is on the rise. In 2023 alone, 47 million people in the U.S.—including nearly 14 million children—lived in food-insecure households. On Long Island, 221,000 community members are food insecure, including over 45,000 children. And with grocery prices increasing, more families are relying on food banks and federal assistance programs to help put food on the table. Programs like SNAP play a key role in addressing hunger and strengthening local economies—supporting grocery stores, farmers, and small businesses. But right now, lawmakers are considering harmful cuts that would make it harder for millions of people to access food. Sign the petition: TELL LAWMAKERS TO PROTECT FEDERAL NUTRITIONAL PROGRAMS LIKE SNAP: https://loom.ly/q9z8U0I Congress has the power to keep these programs strong. With food bankers in D.C. today, this is the moment to make our voices heard. Randi Shubin Dresner

🎉 We're excited to share a special moment as we presented four outstanding graduates of our Workforce Skills Development Institute with brand-new laptops, thanks to a generous donation made in honor of Dr. Ronald Goldstein. 🙌 These amazing grads have come from various classes since our program started in 2023, and they've all working full-time at DiCarlo Food Service, Marchon Eyewear , Wegmans Food Markets , and here at Island Harvest. Their stories are a true testament to perseverance and the life-changing impact of our Workforce Skills Development Institute. We hope these new tools help continue their journey of success! 💻✨ Visit www.islandharvest.org to learn more. #WorkforceDevelopment #Perseverance #SuccessStory #IslandHarvest #MakingADifference
