"Hello, my name is Michael Valenzuela; I am the 511 Operation Manager located in Oakland, California. I’ve been with Iteris since June of 2020. Our operation oversees the nine counties of the Bay Area in regard to traffic and transit information being dispersed to the public. When Iteris took over the contract for the MTC https://hubs.li/Q02LCdz60 project in 2020 of June, I held the position of Supervisor. I was impressed with their introduction and how they presented themselves as a company. They laid out a timeline of what they planned to accomplish and expressed their commitment to the project and the members of it. Iteris was the first company out of four prior companies to ever present themselves this way to the entire team, not just management. I immediately felt like I was a part of something; I knew Iteris was going to be special. What I love about Iteris is how there is mutual respect across the board amongst the various departments. I believe this is due to the culture of the company; everyone is included, everyone has a voice that deserves to be heard. Even though I do not have daily in-person contact with my fellow colleagues due to working remotely, it truly feels as if we are working in the same office on a daily basis (which is a great thing!). You have the freedom to work independently yet knowing support and direction is only a video call away. I believe Iteris has assisted me in developing my leadership and management skills; when the opportunity presented itself, I became the Operation Manager in April of 2022. Up to this point, my most memorable and proud moment working for Iteris was when MTC extended our contract for an additional four years in 2023. In my opinion the extension was granted due to the combination of our team’s hard work and Iteris’s innovation. During my 18 years with the MTC 511 project, there has never been an extension of a contract; we’re the first! Like I said from day one, I knew that Iteris was going to be something special, and I’m extremely proud of being a part of it!" We love hearing the positive impacts Iteris has had on the lives and careers of our valued employees. Huge shoutout to Michael for sharing and for being an important part of our team! 🌠
