This week, marking the dark anniversary of the October 7th massacre, has been very difficult for us all. It has also been a moment for deep reflection on how the past year has impacted our local and global Jewish community, and a time to ask ourselves about the best path forward. The statement below comes out of countless meetings in recent weeks with diverse Jewish stakeholders. We have engaged Jews of many generations, denominations, racial and ethnic backgrounds, and political preferences, including our JCRC Board and Council, Rabbis, community leaders, and constituents. Our hope is that the statement will help explain to our neighbors and local leaders how we are experiencing Jewish life in 5785, and what they can do to show more allyship and support. - Tyler Gregory, CEO, JCRC Bay Area https://lnkd.in/gKCgwb4Z

With antisemitism on the rise since the October 7th Hamas attack, over three in five Jews in the Bay Area report feeling less safe in their everyday lives. Now more than ever, it's crucial to recognize how anti-Jewish hate harms our entire community. At JCRC Bay Area, we’re dedicated to making our shared spaces—workplaces, schools, city halls—safe and inclusive for everyone, including Jews. Our new workshop is designed to foster that safety and inclusivity through education and awareness at a time when Jews feel particularly vulnerable. 🕯️ Today, we honor the lives tragically lost and the families forever changed in the horrific attacks in Israel one year ago. 1,200+ lives were lost, and over 250 were taken hostage—a pain that continues to echo. These are not mere numbers, but stories, loved ones, and futures. May their memory be a blessing. Join us this #DAYOFYELLOW as we remember those we lost and stand in solidarity with those still waiting to come home. 🇮🇱🎗️
