Patients, families and staff were present for the ribbon cutting and spent time visiting with the philanthropic country music star. No “thunder rolled” at this celebration, just sunshine and smiles for this iconic moment. Last night was our 6th Annual White Coat Ceremony, an event that signifies residents hard work as medical students, dedication to their residency or fellowship, and preparation for their ongoing training. During our ceremony, named after Dr. Stanley W. Marks, each resident is dressed with their white coat, symbolizing their entry into the medical field. Live Like Bella® surprised our patients in the Child Life Zone with a day of fun-filled activities for our amazing patients and their families! Patients, families, staff, and Goldie’s favorite co-workers joined in the fun. Goldie enjoyed tail-waggin’ music, treats, pawsome arts & crafts, an adopt-a-pet station, and so much more. Jackson's wish to write, direct, and act became a beautiful reality 🌟 At only 10-years-old, Jackson lives with cystic fibrosis, a genetic disorder that causes problems with his breathing and digestion. Despite these challenges, Make-A-Wish South Florida worked their movie magic! Jackson was immersed into the creation of his sci-fi thriller film, "Venera," a captivating tale set across Venus and Earth. Filmed at various locations in South Florida, including Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital, this dream project was brought to life by Shout Creative of Fort Lauderdale. In a touching moment last week, Jackson played a pivotal role in the movie, portraying the son guiding his father through a new reality after a harrowing escape from Venus. As they navigate through the narrative, the bond between them grows stronger, creating a heartwarming scene. We are so grateful to Make-A-Wish® Southern Florida for the incredible experience and for turning Jackson's dream into a reality. Two of our clients came together in the best way when Make-A-Wish® Southern Florida granted 10-year-old Jackson's wish to write, direct, and act in his own movie. Much of the filming took place at Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital, where Jackson is also a patient. The placement secured on WFOR | CBS Miami captures the magic of the moment that was special for all of us fortunate to be a part of it.

From a young wrestler with his own share of injuries to an esteemed orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Jeremy Frank’s passion for sports medicine & orthopedics has shaped an impressive 15-year career. His dedication to guiding athletes from injury to rehabilitation & back to sports brings him immense pride & joy. ”During my orthopedic surgery residency, I fell in love working with kids & adolescents. In many ways, I still see the world through their eyes,” says Dr. Frank. Dr. Frank’s journey with the sport of wrestling began at the age of eight & continued through college, even volunteering his time as a wrestling coach while in medical school at Northwestern University. From competitive athlete to working with the national & international teams, Dr. Frank has culminated a professional dream come true as he serves as the Head US Olympic Wrestling Team Physician for the Summer 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. “Heading to the Olympics with USA Wrestling is really a professional dream come true,” he says. “I have been involved in this sport since 1987 as an athlete & I have worked directly with USA Wrestling since 2007. This incredible honor is really a culmination of a lifetime of involvement in this great sport. I am honored to be able to take care of the best athletes & wrestlers The United States has to offer, & I hope I can play a small role in helping them achieve their lifelong dreams.” His experience with state-of-the-art sports medicine techniques will continue to benefit young athletes at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital’s Orthopedic Center & [U18] Sports Medicine. As he prepares to represent Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, Memorial Healthcare System, & the United States of America at the Paris Olympics, Dr. Frank looks forward to an amazing experience ahead, caring for & assisting the athletes as they train & compete on the world stage.
