LinkedIn! I have an important 3 part question for some brand messaging research: 1. What’s a product you bought only after seeing ads / commercials that you wouldn’t have bought otherwise? 2. What about the ad made you buy it? How did they finally sell you? Pain points or benefits or relatability or humor? 3. Was the product actually good/worthwhile? Doesn’t matter if it was Meta or TikTok or television or a billboard, this is the fun part. —- My story: 1.) Mine was an iPhone charging station when I wanted to test TikTok’s marketplace. 2) They sold me by the convenience of charging my iPhone, AirPods and Apple Watch. But more importantly the messaging of “on the go people can’t afford to have one of their devices die, plus now you’ll never forget to charge one because it does them all.” 3.) And after taking two months to ship, it kinda fell apart two months after that. Let me know your product story in the comments. It was a special opportunity for the people of the Motor City to come together to inspect, admire, and experience the newest trucks, SUVs, and performance vehicles on the market. As a wanna-be car enthusiast, I enjoyed the sneak peek into the future of automotive technology and EVs, courtesy of heavy-hitting brands like Cadillac and their concept car. Here’s the story of how I turned a pro wrestler into our coffee company’s best selling product. Almost 4 years ago, I opened my podcasts to listen to Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend. There was a new launch of fan episodes, and the first was with a pro wrestler named Danhausen. He was hilarious, and somehow immediately I asked my brother (who went to wrestling school with him) if he could ask if Danhausen liked coffee. He did, we got an address, and sent this wrestler a care package. One night we got an email for a wholesale lead who apparently saw our coffee in an unboxing video on YouTube from Danhausen. A lead from a wrestler? Cool! We invited him to visit our roasting space, but my surprise was creating a custom label coffee for him to package and send out while learning what we do—as if he’s on Mr. Rogers visiting a chocolate factory. After the camera stopped rolling, he asked if we could sell it. Fast forward to Danhausen signing a contract with AEW, being our best-selling product, being on TV every week and being a #1 merch seller in indie wrestling. We’ve since done a medium roast, dark roast, coffee pods, mugs, shirts, pins, and now two cans. Danhausen was a fun gamble that paid off. Because we took a chance on someone before they blew up.
