She's determined to reach her Ivy League dreams, but in 2024, it's not just about acing the test; it's about finding a seat to even take the ACT or SAT. Limited testing centers, increased demand, and financial barriers are just a few of the obstacles students like Leslie are facing. Earlier this month, 13 dedicated parent leaders from KIPP Northern California traveled to Washington D.C. for a Hill Day event, amplifying the voices of our KIPPsters in the U.S. Congress. During their meetings with congressional representatives, these inspiring parents shared their stories and experiences within our schools. They advocated for increased resources for mental health support in schools nationwide, stronger policies to combat gun violence, and greater federal funding for charter schools. We are so grateful for our phenomenal parent leaders! #Advocacy #ParentLeadership

Join us in celebrating Alana Chung, our exceptional Athletic Director at KIPP King Collegiate! Alana was recently awarded the Athletic Director of the Year Award for the CIF SF/Oakland Section at the California Athletic Director's Conference. Her dedication to expanding access to athletics for all students, regardless of skill level, is truly inspiring. As School Leader Simone Malkovich puts it, "Alana is an amazing athletic director because she's constantly thinking about how to expand access to athletics for all students regardless of skill level. Alana also goes out of her way to make sure our student athletes are recognized for their contributions on and off the playing field."
