The scaffolding is coming down! The newly restored baldacchino in St. Peter’s Basilica will be unveiled Sunday, Oct. 27, after an eight-month project sponsored by the Knights of Columbus. Supreme Knight Patrick Kelly, Supreme Chaplain Archbishop William Lori and other K of C leaders were able to get a closeup view of the 10-story canopy during a visit to St. Peter’s yesterday. They also climbed the scaffolding to see the latest restoration project supported by the Knights — another masterpiece of Gian Lorenzo Bernini, the Altar of the Chair of St. Peter.
