The Joy of Working and Building Lives
About us
LAHH, a 501c(3) nonprofit organization, offers employment and career opportunities to persons with disabilities since 2008. Our mission is to create and maintain job opportunities for person with disabilities that will help them to develop, express, and apply their talents and maximize their contribution to the community. We have found that employment, coupled with training before and after hiring and a supportive work environment at the workplace, helps each person discover, use, and improve their talents, their desire for creativity, and ultimately for knowing and becoming more themselves. This approach has also shown to be linked with longer career experiences, i.e. maintaining the job. So...what's next? “The ADA was intended as a civil rights bill to establish the foundation that people with disabilities have the right to full participation in all aspects of society, including the right to seek and be hired into jobs that advance their economic self-sufficiency,” said Susan Prokop, senior associate advocacy director for Paralyzed Veterans of America. “While the country has fulfilled that ideal in some respects, the workforce participation rate of people with disabilities is not very good; it remains stuck at 30 percent.” LAHH supports the establishment of a 1% AbilityOne statutory utilization goal for the DOD. A 1.0 percent goal would create tens of thousands of new employment opportunities for people with disabilities and veterans with disabilities. Let's keep going! #AbilityOne #ADA #1PercentGoal Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA)
