About us

LEE is a diverse network of equity-minded leaders at all stages of life and career. By providing 1:1 coaching, meaningful member-to-member connections, and skill-building opportunities, we help our network members do the work needed to ensure an equitable education for children everywhere – whether that’s organizing within their local communities, exploring careers in policy and advocacy, or pursuing elected office. LEE is a free membership organization currently open to alumni of several partner organizations including Teach For America, the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI), New Leaders, Latinos for Education, Urban Teachers, Public Allies, and School Board Partners. LEE believes that when a diverse group of leaders, grounded in a commitment to equity, are in leadership roles, they will serve as a transformative force for and with students and communities. We are an outcomes-oriented organization that operates in an entrepreneurial environment deeply invested in continuous improvement. LEE is honored to have been selected as a LATINA Style 50 Award recipient and a When Work Works award recipient. We are also an Employer of National Service. In honor of #HispanicHeritageMonth, we celebrate the inspiring journey of Judge Dolores Lozano, a trailblazer in her community and a beacon of civic leadership. 👏 Judge Dolores Lozano made history as the first and youngest Latina elected as Harris County Justice of the Peace Precinct 2, Place 2 on November 8, 2022. She shattered barriers as the first in her family to attend college, earning her bachelor’s degree from Baylor University. Judge Lozano presides over various cases, including evictions, small claims, public nuisances, traffic violations, and truancy matters. Judge Dolores Lozano shared her thoughts with us about allyship in the Hispanic/Latinx community, stating, “Allies can best support by actively listening to the needs and perspectives of Hispanic/Latinx communities, amplifying our voices, and providing resources and platforms to further these initiatives. Genuine collaboration and a commitment to elevating underrepresented communities are key.” Judge Dolores Lozano’s story is a testament to passion and the transformative power of community service. Join us in recognizing her contributions and the rich cultural heritage that inspires us all! Visit the link to read more: https://lnkd.in/egMb3pPa

Happy #HispanicHeritageMonth! As we celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15th to October 15th, we recognize and celebrate the rich cultures, histories, and equitable contributions of Hispanic and Latinx communities. 💛 This month at LEE, we would like to highlight a few of our LEE members within the Hispanic and Latinx communities and amplify their voices and share their inspiring stories! Today, we spotlight Joey, the Regional Director of Leadership ISD for Dallas County. 👏 Joey is dedicated to fostering community leaders into public education advocates and ensuring public education leaders have the resources to create equitable learning environments. In Joey’s current role, he leads initiatives such as the Civic Voices Fellowship, supports trustees, and builds community coalitions to improve student outcomes. Joey founded Firme DFW, a non-profit organization that supports first-generation Latine students by providing scholarships and mentorships for their college success. Joey holds a Bachelor's degree from New Mexico State University and a Master’s in Education from Johns Hopkins University. Want to learn more about Hispanic Heritage Month?
