Last week, Lifepoint and PeaceHealth officially broke ground on an inpatient rehabilitation hospital to be located near International Way in Springfield, Oregon. The stand-alone 66,000-square-foot building will feature the region’s first traumatic brain injury unit and increase capacity over PeaceHealth and Lifepoint Rehabilitation’s current 27-bed unit at nearby PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend. At last weekend’s Strollin’ for the Colon 5K event, Lifepoint team members showed up to walk and run for colon cancer awareness. The event raised more than $113,000! These funds will be used to help raise awareness of and encourage screening for this type of cancer, as well as support patient programs in Middle Tennessee. Thank you to everyone who came out to support this special event in memory of Melissa Waddey, former president of ambulatory and operations services at Lifepoint.

Char Boulch was recently named the new chief executive officer of Saline Memorial Hospital. She brings more than 22 years of healthcare experience to her new role, including eight years in executive leadership. Char has served as the hospital’s chief nursing officer since 2023, and she brings extensive leadership experience and a deep understanding of the hospital’s operations, as well as staff and patient needs. Two Lifepoint leaders participated in the Nashville ViVE event earlier this week. ViVE is a digital healthcare conference focused on driving growth opportunities and bringing together thousands of healthcare leaders across the country. At this event, Chris Frost, MD, SVP, chief medical officer and chief quality officer, joined a panel discussion about the importance of delivering culturally competent care and discussed how social determinants of health continue to shape the quality and accessibility of care for patients from diverse socio-economic backgrounds – especially in underserved communities. Al Smith, MPH, SVP and CIO, joined another panel discussion which brought together IT leaders to explore how hospitals are integrating inpatient virtual care into their long-term strategies.
