Community engagement is a huge part of what we do at LifeSource. It's important for us to support the communities we work with by listening to what they have to say and by working together to help provide what they need. Through our engagement with St. Paul Indians in Action, we learned that the closet at the Department of Indian Work in Little Canada was almost empty, and they need clothes for both children and adults for fall and winter. They are asking for gently used, clean clothes ready to be worn to school or work. The shelter serves mainly native American families, but they serve other diverse communities as well. The campaign starts today and will end on Thursday, November 7th so please join us in donating! Items can be dropped off at: 3080 Centerville Road Little Canada, MN 55117 For hours and more information about The Department of Indian Work, please visit their website! https://lnkd.in/gPdG2hPq

Check out the newest episode of the This Side of the Grass podcast! This important episode is about the option to be an organ and tissue donor at the end of life. Micah Webb, Donation Liaison from LifeSource, joins the host, Val Amsden, in conversation. Val learned of LifeSource following the death of her brother, Dan. Micah educates her further on how impactful LifeSource is from start to finish in the donation process, some myths and common misconceptions, and how powerful one donor’s gifts can be! Micah has her own story of loss that propelled her into this impactful career. The episode is out now so we encourage you to give it a listen! https://lnkd.in/gEN_RyZZ #ogandonation #deathanddying #endoflife #registereddonor #savelives

Our new public awareness campaign focuses on getting more men to register as organ donors. But why men? Men have a greater chance of both being organ donors AND needing transplants, yet fewer of them are participating in the system through donor registration. Help us change the statistics and increase the number of registered men today! #menaretheanswer #savelives #organdonation #organtransplant

After a double lung transplant, Jennifer found herself in the middle of a very unique love story. When meeting her donor’s brother, Travis, for the first time, there was an instant connection. With Travis living in Wisconsin at the time, she never thought it would turn into anything because of the distance. But as they say, distance knows no bounds. Their connection grew from friends to falling deeply in love. Travis and Jennifer married on September 28th - a full circle moment. https://lnkd.in/gfA6FtdH

On October 14th, LifeSource Community Engagement Liaison, Paula St John, was interviewed by Oromia 11 to talk about the importance of organ donation among communities of color. Oromia 11 was established to address chronic information gaps on issues that affect underrepresented communities and we are so grateful for the opportunity to discuss the topic of organ donation.
