What is a COE and why should I care? Any medical practice, psychology practice, multidisciplinary assessment team, or individual health care provider that can diagnose Autism and be prescribed Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) therapy. In order to be eligible for ABA therapy through Apple Health or Medicaid, a recognized COE must conduct a comprehensive evaluation for the ABA prescription. While LLC no longer provides ABA therapy through Apple Health, Medicaid, or any other insurance, there are still providers in Spokane who do! This is a resource that will help you navigate the process of finding a provider, getting an assessment, and answers a ton of Medicaid related questions around ABA. He's been with LLC for over 7 years, is a cat-dad, an at home pit master, and works hard to keep everyone at the office laughing with his quick and witty jokes. This BCBA is a natural problem solver and cares deeply for his team; he was absolutely born for this position! He's an accomplished gamer, enjoys kayaking and camping, and identifies as a Wookie.

Amazing work from the team at NECC!
Since 2018, a team of NECC researchers has been studying the early markers of autism, evaluating newborn infants whose siblings have an autism diagnosis. Through their work with the Autism Infant Sibling Study, the NECC team has developed an Early Markers of Autism (EMA) assessment tool for young infants from data collected in the study. They have also found that infant siblings of children with autism may show symptoms before their first birthday. “At NECC, This project has implications not just for the immediate students and families we serve, but also for future generations of children with special needs,” shared Becky MacDonald, PhD, BCBA-D, LABA.
