La Familia’s “Caminos” team identified a need to provided a safe place for students to exercise an outlet through soccer. Most recently, former Oakland Roots Sports Club player Ricardo Guerra took time to come by and host a clinic where over 16 youth had the opportunity to learn Ricardo’s story first hand, learn values he felt important for young community members, and share some skill sessions through soccer. Caminos provides services to unaccompanied immigrant youth and children of migrant families. That have entered the US within the past 3 years fleeing violence in their home countries and are primarily from Central America and Mexico. This camp was made possible through collaboration with Kaiser Permanente and coordinated and ran by Caminos front line staff. • • • #Oakland #TheTown #TheRoots #Soccer

I’m feel so grateful for La Familia’s Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Action (IDEA) committee, in partnership with our Unity & Spirit (Us) committee, for putting on a beautiful event centering #joy and #rest as part of resistance in honor of Juneteenth. I am especially grateful for our guest speaker, Neisha Becton, MA, a proud La Familia Board Member and a powerhouse advocate in Alameda County, who shared her passion and her journey with our team. Hope your activities, whatever they are today, are filled with this much community, dancing, connection, great food, and togetherness.

Building a Team of Harm Reduction Ambassadors! At La Familia, we believe in empowering our team to make a difference in the community, and that's exactly what our recent training session was all about! We're thrilled to share some snapshots where our dedicated staff stepped up to become Harm Reduction Ambassadors. These incredible individuals are now equipped with the knowledge and skills to recognize the signs of an overdose and administer life-saving Narcan when needed. In a world where every second counts, having a team of trained responders can truly make a life-saving difference. We're proud to be proactive in our approach to health and safety, not only within our organization but also within the broader community. Special thanks to HEPPAC for leading an informative and engaging session. Together, we can make a difference! 💙 #HarmReduction #NarcanTraining #CommunitySafety #Teamwork #HealthAndSafety
