In 2022, LiveOnNY initiated  a strategic plan to turn around the stagnant and dispassionate state of organ donation in the NY Metro Region. In less than 3 years, organ donors, individuals who became heroes, in our NY communities has increased by 70%, despite only 20% of potential donors in the hospitals in our region actually being Registered Organ Donors. Changing the narrative to bring attention to the fact that organ donors are ‘heroes’ was necessary because they should be front of mind and never forgotten! We are bringing back the ♥️ of the NYC metro community, a city of heroes who have always lead the way! National media, elected officials and community leaders got behind LiveOnNY’s message and supported the creation of a movement. LiveOnNY was proud to unveil the Donate Eight Simulation Center at our Long Island City headquarters! This state-of-the-art facility, made possible by the generous support of Donate Eight and the LiveOnNY Foundation, will elevate training and education for our clinical staff and the public, focusing on the lifesaving process of organ donation. The center includes a fully equipped mock operating room and ICU, designed to train employees in donor case management within a controlled, immersive environment. It will also serve as an educational tool for students, elected officials, and the public, raising awareness and understanding of the importance of organ and tissue donation. We extend our deepest gratitude to the members of Donate Eight for their unwavering support over the years and making this endeavor possible.
