Uncle Lou's Gives Back to Communities
About us
The Rothhaas family has been in the meat business for five generations, starting with a market stand in 1887. Over the past 137 years, Louis Foods has become a well-respected name in Cincinnati. As a family business, they believe in giving back to the community. Rick and Rob Rothhaas, fifth-generation brothers, have expanded their father's legacy by founding Louis Foods, Inc., and launching the popular Uncle Lou’s frozen chitlins, now a nationwide staple. In memory of "Uncle Lou," who passed in 2021, they've established a scholarship fund with the Evans Scholars Foundation to support high-achieving caddies with limited financial means. The "Uncle Lou's Gives Back" initiative honors Louis Rothhaas by partnering with retailers to support local charities through donations from Uncle Lou's product sales. Louis Foods has evolved from a small butcher shop to a full-service supplier, leveraging 150 years of collective experience to help retailers, wholesalers, distributors, and vendors elevate their products. Louis Foods continues to embody Uncle Lou’s values, blending tradition with innovation and community support.

We are thrilled to have the 6th generation join the family business! Welcome Molly!
After 6 years in the tech world, I'm thrilled to announce I'm making a bit of a leap and joining the family business - Louis Foods, Inc.! When I started my career at G2, I was extremely lucky to work with such a great group of people who made work feel fun every single day, even the stressful ones. It set the bar high for what I'd come to expect in a company, especially management. As I grew in my career - this theme kept coming back to the forefront. I shared this with my dad about a year ago and started asking if it would ever make sense for me to join Louis Foods. Fast forward to now and I couldn't be happier that the timing/need lined up and I get to work alongside family everyday. I may be biased but I have a feeling Rick Rothhaas & Rob Rothhaas might be the best managers I'll ever have 😁

Uncle Lou's Gives Back" honors the legacy of Louis Rothhaas, fondly remembered as "Uncle Lou" by his customers. Louis Foods, owned by Lou's sons, is proud of their partnership with Kroger and Feeding America, the largest charity working to end hunger in the US. On behalf of Kroger, we presented a $15,000 check to Feeding America at a Kroger Marketplace store re-grand opening event in Independence, KY, which went to 17 food banks across the country to help families in need. #FeedingAmerica #givingback #Kroger

Our company Santa Claus, co-owner Rick Rothhaas, helped to make some children's Christmas morning a bit brighter with a shopping trip to Target! Rick is a long time board member of Boys and Girls Club of Greater Cincinnati that sponsored this great event for 70 + kids! Louis Foods is a proud sponsor of Boys & Girls Club, and is privileged to be associated with this wonderful organization!
