Interested in learning: What is the future for SRHR INGOs? How must INGOs change to remain relevant, sustainable, and legitimate? The TIME initiative was created with the understanding that one INGO can’t do this alone, but if we work as a community of INGOs, NNGOs, and donors, we can chart a course together that is equitable, resilient, and accountable. 18 SRHR INGOs have come together to collectively engage on three different levels on how they must evolve, transform, and transition their operating models to be more equitable, sustainable, relevant, and legitimate. #SRH #NGO #sexualhealth #globalhealth
I enjoyed presenting this poster from the Transforming INGO Models for Equity (TIME) Initiative that Robyn Sneeringer and Kim Kucinskas made at the North Carolina Global Health Alliance conference yesterday. People were interested in the initiative and curious about future potential roles of INGOs in the #internationaldevelopment sector. How can we evolve in a rapidly changing landscape? FHI 360, EngenderHealth, Humentum and ~15 other INGOs have been working to ask these questions and advocate for transforming the way we operate to create a more equitable ecosystem where more power is shifted to local organizations in LMICs. Here is more info on #TIME4SRHR if you are curious: https://lnkd.in/dgV8Uzv3

Amazing news! The World Health Organization announced that Egypt is malaria-free. This is a significant milestone for the country after a nearly 100-year effort by the Egyptian government and people to end a disease that has been present in the country since 4000 B.C. Both Cape Verde, which achieved malaria-free certification earlier this year, and Egypt have proven that a malaria-free world is possible with the right tools, strong political leadership and steadfast commitment. https://bit.ly/4fw3sgb
25.6 million people: The number of #Sudanese enduring critical food shortages. 9 million people: Almost 20% of Sudan’s population – people who are in a food emergency or worse, meaning immediate action is needed to save lives. The IPC estimates that 168 million people in 42 nations are enduring a food crisis or worse, meaning they live in areas where #acutemalnutrition ranges from 10% to more than 30% of the populace. Like Sudan, many of the worst hunger zones are also conflict zones – including Myanmar, Afghanistan, South Sudan, Haiti, Nigeria and Gaza. War makes it all the harder for the international community to intervene. https://lnkd.in/gmfNAH5K

CEO of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Working to ensure everyone can live a healthy life & reach their full potential. Father, husband, optimist.
Increasing women's access to economic opportunities is fundamental to ensuring everyone has a chance to reach their full potential. From healthcare to agriculture, financial inclusion to business, progress against pressing global challenges is only possible when women have a voice, agency, and the tools to make decisions and take action. Investing in women isn't just the right thing to do—it's the key to creating stronger, more resilient communities.
