A second Pay Equity Summit has been announced for September 25th at 5pm, at the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center to showcase progress made and remaining barriers, according to employers and workers themselves. The Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center presents live performances, film, and cultural events year-round, bringing a variety of content to the stage and screen of our historic Berkshire theater, through programs of the highest quality in dance, music, drama, comedy, and educational and family programs. We bring together diverse audiences and artists, highlight national and regional talent, and contribute to the quality of life of our community through the performing arts. Built in 1905, and in continuous operation since, the Mahaiwe is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places. “What do we stand for?” Passion & Engagement: Knowing that all great art is born from an open heart and keen mind, we strive to bring our audiences work that will inspire, provoke, and enthrall, and we enter into our own work with a similar commitment to whole-hearted investment and bold, creative thinking. How a small-town performing #arts center reached out to a Spanish-speaking audience and built community: https://lnkd.in/ekyJQ2Um “We're trying to think about all the ways that we can make it welcoming and comfortable for people to be there,” says Janis Martinson about the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center in Great Barrington, MA. The efforts, led by the center's Spanish-language Community Advisory Network (SCAN) seem to be paying off. And, SCAN member Natalia DeRuzzio has an idea why. “When the community trusts you, the community responds,” she says.
