Big news for #BMHW24: Mahmee and Health Net, one of California’s most experienced Medi-Cal managed care health plans, have teamed up to expand doula care and wraparound maternity services to 25,000 expecting and new parents in California. "This collaboration addresses health disparities that persist in maternal care, with Black mothers experiencing mortality rates three times higher than white women. One of the nation's largest health systems today announced a partnership with Mahmee to enhance maternal health. Starting this month, Providence will introduce the Mahmee Membership at Providence Saint John's Health Center. This distinguished hospital, one of 52 within the national, not-for-profit Catholic health system, is located in Santa Monica and is part of the broader network spanning seven states – Alaska, California, Montana, New Mexico, Oregon, Texas, and Washington. Together, we are enhancing lactation care, enriching the postpartum experience, and offering seamless support for new parents as they transition from the hospital.
