*RESEARCH CORNER* Findings suggest that sleep disturbances extend beyond the immediate postpartum period. Researchers estimated that improving sleep could significantly reduce the population burden of depression by 2.4% to 5.9% and anxiety by 3.4% to 8.0% across the assessed time points. These results highlight the potential for sleep interventions during the perinatal period to reduce the prevalence of clinically significant depression and anxiety, improving maternal mental health outcomes. https://lnkd.in/gh4MjtYj

A non-partisan, nonprofit that advocates for the best possible health and well-being of all American mothers.
About us
The March for Moms Association is a non-partisan, solution-oriented 501c3 nonprofit that advocates for the best possible health and well-being of all mothers. For three years, we have organized a rally on the National Mall to share the experiences and ideas of extraordinary people working to produce a safer and more equitable American maternal health system. Our goal is to highlight solutions that will end maternal mortality, improve access to high quality and equitable care, and broaden support for the challenges of early parenting. Beyond the rally, March for Moms works across a broad coalition of consumer and family, professional, policymaker and industry representatives to align and amplify advocacy strategies and policy goals to ensure that every American family can grow with dignity. We are based in Boston, Massachusetts and would love to hear from you!

📢 News | $440M Awarded to Expand MIECHV Program Services The federal government recently awarded $440 million to the Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV) program to expand its voluntary, evidence-based services for families across the country. Through MIECHV, home visitors—like nurses and social workers—support families on topics such as maternal mental health, infant care, and school readiness. March for Moms believes all families should have access to MIECHV. Home visitors play a crucial role in screening for mental health challenges and connecting parents with resources. **News | Counselors from the National Maternal Mental Health Hotline Invited to the White House** This summer, counselors from the Hotline met with officials from the Office of the Vice President and Carole Johnson, HRSA Administrator. Counselors emphasized that the Hotline is more than just a resource—it's a lifeline for those struggling with maternal mental health. Since launching on Mother’s Day 2022, the Hotline (1-833-TLC-MAMA) has supported over 40,000 individuals, providing free, confidential, 24/7 voice and text services in multiple languages. QUICK ACTION: Ensure that Congress addresses maternal mental health this week! A bill in Congress to support mental health for military mothers called The Maintaining our Obligation to Moms who Serve Act (also referred to as The MOMS Act) would bring maternal mental health programs into the military healthcare system. The MOMS Act was included in the final House version of a larger bill, called the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). However, The MOMS Act was NOT included in the Senate version of the NDAA. We must urge our Senators to include The MOMS Act in the final NDAA, otherwise we will miss the opportunity to include maternal mental health programs into the military healthcare system! Use THIS ACTION ALERT to call or email your Senator: https://lnkd.in/gVdzM2RM

Every American knows that we pay too much for health care, but many don’t know WHY. We must address corporate greed, driven by #consolidation and #pricegouging among big hospital and pharmaceutical corporations! More than 100 million Americans are saddled with #medicaldebt, forced to make impossible choices between health care and basic human needs. Families shouldn't be struggling to pay for a doctor's visit while health care corporations & CEOs extort skyrocketing profits, salaries & bonuses. Policy changes like strengthened #hospitalpricetransparency and #siteneutralpayments must be put into place. In this election, let's demand #transparency, fair pricing, and accountability to ensure health care is a right, not a privilege. #votelikeamother Learn more via the Families USA fact sheet: https://lnkd.in/gSvQMqri
