Georgetown County, SC celebrates NPWW with a Backhoe Rodeo Branch Championship ! Ray Funnye, Georgetown County Public Services Director, and Mattern & Craig’s Jim Neal at the competition. Georgetown County Public Services hosts the Lowcountry Branch Backhoe Rodeo each year. Local Elementary and Middle School students attended the event this year, in what Director Funnye terms "early recruitment " for Public Works professionals! Mattern & Craig is pleased to welcome Matthew M. Dickson, PE, to the firm as Civil Senior Project Manager in Charleston, SC. Matthew is a Licensed Professional Engineer with over 24 years of experience in civil engineering management, design, and construction. His professional experience includes large scale land development projects, roadway/highway projects, environmental and stormwater projects. Matthew’s broad experience includes master planning, site planning, zoning, easements, right of way, potable water, re-use water, wastewater, overlot grading, detail grading, roadway design, highway design, dry utilities, floodplain, drainage, water quality, and erosion control. As a Project Manager, Matthew has led teams in preparing full engineering plans, feasibility studies, drainage master plans, utility studies, and cost analysis. He has experience coordinating design efforts while working regularly with city, county, and state agencies for entitlements, permits and approvals. He is well-traveled and has worked on engineering projects in Colorado, North Dakota, Nevada, Montana, New Mexico, Arizona, Georgia, Tennessee, Idaho Ohio, Hawaii, China, and Florida. Matthew enjoys the depth and diversity of the engineering field. He is passionate about making a difference in his community, combining his technical knowledge with the interpersonal side of the industry, and he enjoys being actively involved with marketing and business development. Mattern & Craig would like to recognize & congratulate Brent Davis for achieving his EIT! Brent has passed his Fundamentals of Engineering exam and is now a certified Engineer In Training. A North Carolina native, Brent is a Project Engineer in our Roanoke office. His engineering experience includes four (4) years of both building envelope consulting and civil design, with experience in construction/field investigations, ASTM/AAMA Field testing, design of underground utilities, stormwater management design, erosion & sediment control design, civil plan review and construction administration services.   Brent is passionate about finding effective solutions to everyday problems and providing a high quality of service to the community through civil design. He plans to pursue his professional engineering license next.
