On August 19, 2024, our Making the Move panel featured US Magistrate Judge Marty Elfenbein, MDFAWL President Angela Benjamin, Alice Sum, and Jacqueline Arango, who shared their journeys on transitioning from the private to public sector. The panel was moderated by Narinah Jean-Baptiste. Two of the panelists were partners at prestigious law firms and the other two panelists were associates at large firms before making the transition to government service. The women shared the advantages and disadvantages of the two sectors, and discussed the skills they obtained from the private sector that helped them in the public sector. They each provided their own words of advice on making the move to government service.

MEMBER SPOTLIGHT 🔦 Meet Amirah Mohammad. Amirah is the Corporate and Regulatory Counsel and board-appointed Privacy Officer for U.S. Century Bank. In that role, she practices in a variety of legal areas including corporate law, regulatory compliance, contract law, oversight of external litigation, legal research and analysis, and corporate governance.
