A sneak peek at the next RestauraTOUR: Thrilled to check out the newest location of Mecha Noodle Bar which opened in Columbus’s Short North district in April. This is the ninth location for the Connecticut-based concept, which was founded by life-long friends Richard Reyes and TONY M PHAM in 2013. Two-by-fours hang from the ceiling like noodles in this former White Castle space. The menu features a range of bao, pho, ramen, rolls, and other munchies, plus boba and other tasty beverages. Last night I had the privilege of attending this year's CRAZIES awards. For those of you unfamiliar with the event, it's an annual awards show put on by Connecticut Restaurant Association that honors Connecticut's hospitality industry. An even bigger honor is that my company Box 8 Creative was a finalist for Vendor of the Year. Although we did not bring home the prize, our nomination felt like such validation. Validation that my decision to focus on the industry I have been a part of in some way or another since I was 15 years old was the right one. And that the people we serve also see the work that my team does as worthy of being celebrated alongside the best chefs, operators, and vendors in the state. Congrats to all of the nominees, including our clients who were recognized and awarded for the care and effort they put into providing all of us with the best food & hospitality experiences that connect us with each other. A special shout out to our long time partners and friends at Mecha Noodle Bar and founders Richard Reyes and TONY M PHAM for receiving this years Restaurateurs of the Year honor. Their generosity and commitment to bettering their community, both in their backyard and around the globe, is unmatched. I am honored to know them both and to help their brand grow. Hopefully we’ll have the opportunity to be up for the same award again next year - and if not - we’ll be there to continue supporting our friends and partners in the industry. Cheers!
