The discussions were deeply insightful with this crowd. Last week we presented on the goals of our 2050 Plan to the City of Orlando Mayor's Committee on Healthy Aging and Livibility. They shared with us some of the transportation challenges they see hindering them from being able to age in place and live an independent existence as they step into the later years of their lives. As we plan for 2050, it is important to take into account as many transportation stories and perspectives of our residents as possible. Our outreach efforts continue, and we are committed to talking to as many people and groups as possible. ➡ If you would like our outreach team to present to your group about how we are planning for the future of Central Florida transportation, please contact our communication specialist, Leilani Vaiaoga, at Leilani.Vaiaoga@MetroPlanOrlando.gov. ➡ If you would like to take the 2050 Plan survey (2 minutes) visit: https://bit.ly/2050Plan2 .

Dean Grandin, a retired City of Orlando planner and Orange County resident, is fortunate not to experience any current transportation challenges. But as a senior who plans to age in place, he shares his concern about how he will get around without relying on a car or private transportation like Uber and Lyft. A common concern he and friends from his senior living community share. Our 2050 Plan outreach efforts continue as we talk to people in their communities about their transportation challenges, and what things they believe would make the transportation system better in Central Florida as we plan for the future. If you would like a presentation to your community group on our Journey to 2050, please contact Leilani Vaiaoga at Leilani.Vaiaoga@MetroPlanOrlando.gov. #2050Plan #2050PlanTransportationTalks #TransportationPlanning #MetropolitanPlanningOrganization #Transportation #CentralFlorida #CommunityEngagement

Thank you to the CTD for this highly regarded award and MetroPlan Orlando Director of Regional Partnerships Virginia L Whittington. We're especially grateful for all of our LCB members who serve alongside elected officials from Orange, Seminole and Osceola counties: Cmsr. 2050 Plan outreach continues with the University of Central Florida Urban Knights. The room was full of students looking to change the future as aspiring planners, engineers, land use lawyers and political science practitioners. We talked about our journey to 2050, sharing transportation issues and wins within the Central Florida region. Thank you to the UCF Urban Knights board, Laurel Richmond, Jessica Caudillo-Román, Lauren Atwell, Gabriela Garrard, and Ryan Sweet, MSURP., as well as Luis Nieves-Ruiz, FAICP and everyone who attended. We enjoyed the in-depth conversations we had with you. The future of Central Florida transportation looks bright with these young adults. If you want to know about what we are planning for in the year 2050 and would like a presentation, please reach out to our communication specialist, Leilani Vaiaoga at Leilani.Vaiaoga@MetroPlanOrlando.gov. #2050Plan #TransportationPlanning #MetropolitanPlanningOrganization #Transportation #CentralFlorida #TeamGenZ #CommunityEngagement Slade Downs
