Built in 1983, Citigroup Center, formerly known as Miami Center, is the second largest office building in the state of Florida and is embracing a future of resilience with energy-efficient upgrades and green features. 🏢✨ Last month, the Miami-Dade County Office of Resilience, along with engineers from the University of Miami Industrial Assessment Center, conducted an energy and water assessment as part of the Building Efficiency 305 (BE305) Challenge. The assessment is a benefit offered to selected participants of the Building Efficiency 305 Challenge, the County’s flagship program to promote energy and water efficiency in large buildings across #OurCounty. Our walkthrough aimed to find no-cost and low-cost ways to save energy, water, and money without the need for major capital investments.💧 CP Group , which owns and manages the building, already implements LED lighting across its newly refurbished office suites. Hybrid offices are encouraged to adjust their a/c and light usage when employees are working remotely. 💡 The building is WELL certified and on its way to becoming ENERGY STAR certified. ENERGY STAR certified office buildings use 35% less energy and generate 35% fewer greenhouse gas emissions overall. ⭐️ This was the 14th assessment in the BE305 Challenge, with participants saving on average $40,000 in energy and water costs per building, regardless of building type and age. Stay tuned for more insights and discover how the BE305 Challenge is making Miami-Dade more efficient! Last week, the Miami-Dade County Office of Resilience joined Mayor Daniella Levine Cava and Commissioner Micky Steinberg as they brought together leaders from 27 municipalities across #OurCounty for a roundtable on flooding preparedness and response. As we navigate the hurricane and rainy season, this collaborative effort is essential to protect our community from the impacts of flooding. During the meeting, County staff presented the updated Flood Response Plan, discussed progress on the Reasonable Assurance Plan to improve water quality in Biscayne Bay, and highlighted the recent upgrade in the National Flood Insurance Program Community Rating System (CRS), which has led to flood insurance premium discounts for thousands of residents and businesses. The meeting was attended by mayors and representatives from across Miami-Dade, all working together to ensure a #resilient future for our community. #Resilient305 #FloodPreparedness #MiamiDadeCounty #HurricaneSeason #HurricaneReady

🌟 Join the Miami-Dade County Office of Resilience in celebrating the 2-Year Anniversary of the #InflationReductionAct! 🌟 Two years ago today, the Inflation Reduction Act was passed, marking a historic moment in U.S. climate policy. This transformative legislation has been key in funding clean energy projects across the nation, including right here in Miami-Dade County! 🌍 Thanks to the IRA, we're making strides in transitioning to a clean and equitable energy economy while improving health outcomes: 🚍 Miami-Dade County Public Schools recently rolled out new electric school buses, doubling its electric fleet to 100, reducing harmful diesel emissions, and cutting fuel costs in the process. ☀️ Solar panels at the North Dade Regional Library are now powering up to 80% of the library's electricity needs, saving energy and reducing costs. 🚙 Solar-powered EV chargers are making it even easier to support a broader transition to zero-emission transportation options. 🔋 With more projects in the pipeline, including expanding solar to Miami International Airport and the recent launch of Shore Power at PortMiami, we're leading the way in clean energy adoption. The IRA is paving the way for a cleaner, greener, Miami-Dade. We’re excited to continue this journey and build a resilient future for all! 💚 #MiamiDade #ClimateAction #Resilience #CleanEnergy

Happy Friday! The Miami-Dade County Office of Resilience is proud to contribute to improving energy efficiency and sustainability in #OurCounty facilities. 🌿 Miami-Dade County is one of the top property owners in the region, and many County buildings have gone through Energy Performance Contracts to upgrade equipment and other systems. 🔌 Take a look behind-the-scenes as our Energy Services Coordinator, Yliana Serra, participated in the successful chiller testing at the Joseph Caleb Center, conducted as part of the Measurement and Verification process for the Miami-Dade County Internal Services Department's Energy Performance Contracting Project. #EnergyEfficiency #Sustainability #PerformanceContracting
