Saturday was a beautiful day for the Celebrate Life 6k! We have so many people to thank for the success of this incredible gathering of donor families, recipients, patients waiting, and supporters.   Thank you to our staff and volunteers who prepared team packets, set up the event, and cheered on the walkers and runners. This annual event would not be possible without their dedication to our mission and our community.    Thank you as well to the 1400+ participants who registered for this year's run/walk. Packet pickup is underway ahead of this weekend's 6k. Thank you to all our staff and volunteers who have helped us with sorting shirts, team check-in, and preparing signs for the event. The Celebrate Life 6k kicks off at 9:30 am on Sunday, with festivities beginning at 8:30 am. Packet pickup is available in the Mid-America Transplant parking lot until 6 pm Friday, and from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm on Saturday. We celebrated 27 donor heroes this month at the Candlelight Memorial in Springfield, Missouri. Donor families traveled from across the region to share stories, create memorabilia, and honor their loved ones. Events like the candlelight memorial support families as they journey through moments in which grief and healing are often indiscernible. Hispanic Heritage Month is a time to honor the rich histories, cultures, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans, whose ancestors hail from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. Observed annually from September 15 to October 15, the month shines a spotlight on the significant impact Hispanic individuals have made across a wide range of fields, including science, education, the arts, healthcare, and more.   The celebration begins on September 15 to commemorate the independence anniversaries of several Latin American countries, including Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. Mexico and Chile also mark their independence shortly after, on September 16 and 18, respectively.   Hispanic Heritage Month provides a meaningful opportunity to recognize and celebrate the vibrant cultures and lasting contributions of Hispanic communities, while fostering a deeper appreciation for the diversity within the United States.   In celebration of #HispanicHeritageMonth, the Association for Multicultural Affairs in Transplantation Latino Committee is proud to present a curated collection of stories that honor the remarkable contributions of Hispanic professionals in the transplant community.
