  • Sustainability remains a priority for MillerKnoll 70 years after Herman Miller's founder declared: “We will be good stewards of the earth.” Our Second Nature exhibit celebrates the many ways our collective is pursuing that vision through design stories brought to life by Standard Issue Design. Visit MillerKnoll New York to experience the materials, products, and methods that our brands are innovating to meet today’s demand for design that makes a positive impact. https://mlkn.co/6044UV1pg

  • During his prolific 50-year career, Alexander Girard shaped design as we know it and helped one brand redefine modern for the 21st century. At Herman Miller, he helped establish the textile division to complement the innovation of design greats like the Eameses and George Nelson. With the 300 textiles, prints, and objects created over his 21-year tenure, Girard ignited the design world’s appetite for color and pattern that paved the path for many designers today. Discover his work—and some never-before-seen images—in Phaidon’s new monograph “Alexander Girard: Let the Sun in,” available at Herman Miller. https://mlkn.co/6041URazl

“Andy and I would take long walks around New York City, and it was amazing what would happen during those walks that didn’t happen in the studio,” says Bruce Hannah who designed the Morrison Hannah Chair with Andrew Morrison in 1973. “We’d find inspiration everywhere—in the juxtaposition of materials, or how a street transitions into a park. Design is where something transitions from one thing to another, just like the transitions in life. To me, the most interesting things are transitions.” Click here to read “Designing Happiness: How Bruce Hannah sees the world” in Shu magazine: https://lnkd.in/etMmrmfs Video and photos by Joshua Charow
