National Braille Week, observed annually in October, is a week dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of braille as a vital tool for communication and literacy for individuals who are blind or visually impaired. Organized by the Royal Blind, National Braille Week highlights the contributions of braille to education, independence, and accessibility, and encourages greater understanding of the challenges faced by those who rely on braille. Meet Ben Jackson: Eye Bank Technician out of Winston Salem, NC! Ben has over 20 years of experience in the medical field, 7 of which have been dedicated to MIS in multiple roles. "Knowing that the corneas we evaluate and process are going to patients across the world to help people with their vision is remarkable." he says. Outside of work, Ben enjoys spending time with family and friends. A few hobbies of his include grilling, reading, puzzles/crossword puzzles, board games and bowling. When he's not partaking in those activities, you can find Ben traveling to cheer on his daughter at her cheer competitions! #MIS #MeetTheTeam #Eyebank

In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, Leadership Winston-Salem has coordinated a relief drive to address the urgent and desperate needs in Buncombe County. Many families are facing significant challenges, and we urgently call on all LWS alumni and community members to join us in making a difference. Your contributions of essential items can provide hope and relief to those who have lost so much. In support of various organizations, we kindly ask you to drop off donations at our Leadership Winston-Salem office. Additionally, to assist Sheriff Bobby Kimbrough in his efforts, items can also be dropped off at the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office through October 2. Your generosity can make a significant difference for those in need during this challenging time. Thank you for your support and commitment to making a positive impact!
