About us
Mission Bio is a company of passionate people dedicated to solving complex biological problems with precision engineering, innovative biochemistry, and supported bioinformatics. In 2014, the company was spun out of Adam Abate’s lab for high-throughput biology at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). Mission Bio’s precision genomics platform is based on the pioneering droplet microfluidics work of Abate and his team. Our mission is to help researchers and clinicians unlock single-cell biology to enable the discovery, development, and delivery of precision medicine. Visit missionbio.com to learn more.

It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of our beloved friend, leader, and colleague, George Kopitas, who left us last week. For over six years at Mission Bio as a commercial leader, George was dedicated to empowering our customers through single-cell genomics, helping them unlock the potential of precision medicine. But George’s impact went beyond building our commercial team—he created a true community, a family of colleagues united by a shared mission. As a leader, George led by example, embodying kindness, humility, and grace in everything he did. He taught us that true leadership is not defined by power, but by the lasting legacy of empowerment you leave behind. Many of us who had the privilege of working alongside George will never forget his infectious laughter and sense of humor, which lifted us all during the toughest times. We invite you to share your memories of George as we celebrate his life. If you are in a position to support his family during this difficult time, we encourage you to donate. Our deepest condolences go out to his family, friends, and the countless people whose lives he touched. He will be profoundly missed.
