Mission Innovation X (MIx) enables mission-driven organizations and dual-use ventures to better solve the world’s biggest challenges. We work with mission-driven organizations to help realize their goals MIx connects problem owners, such as mission-driven organizations, with capability providers, which are often in the form of dual-use ventures. We also communicate the broader dual-use context and inspire the MIT community to participate in our mission-driven ecosystem. We accelerate dual-use companies so that they can make their impact on global society We accelerate and nurture ventures that will make an impact on these global challenges, and we also seek to advance both the science and practice of dual-use innovation for the benefit of society through the identification of dual-use venture pathways. We connect and expand the MIx community to explore cross-disciplinary ideas We collaborate with mission-driven organizations to help solve the world’s challenges through research and education. MIx deploys a variety of mission innovation programs to support these aims, including grants and partnerships, fellowships, sponsored research, and experiential learning activities.

Last year we launched a design/build class at #MIT in collaboration with USSOCOM. These are the highlights from that class! If you know an MIT student that is interested in building innovative solutions in response to global security problems - we're running the class again in Spring '25. Yesterday evening we already kicked off the EBAN - European Business Angel Network conference in Tallinn with a VIP and speakers dinner. Today I will be moderating two on-stage panel discussions on dual-use and defense investments. First Risto Siilasmaa and Gene Keselman will be joining for a talk on Expanding Horizons: New Opportunities in Defence and Dual-Use Investments. Later today I will have a chance to modarate a discussion on How to navigate through the maze of dual-use investments with Jannic Meyer, John Longhurst, and Ioan Istrate joining the talk. The last session will be followed by NATO DIANA Estonian Accelerator teams pitching on the stage. Dronetag, GaltTec, Goldilock, Anzen, GIM Robotics, IceWind.

This was a busy week for DIANA's cohort of innovators, as we gathered in McLean, Virginia for our North American Outreach Days. Hosted by MITRE, this event brought together investors and end users from across a range of sectors to meet the innovators, provide practical advice, and create connections throughout the North American defence innovation ecosystem. Events like these are key for innovators to gain access to defence markets, better understand ways of approaching and pitching to investors, and build their networks across the Alliance. It's also an important element of their start-up and scale-up journeys, as they bond over their shared entrepreneurial experiences. Many of our cohort came away from the Outreach Days with new leads and exciting next steps, as well as stronger connections with their fellow companies. Thank you to all who made the time to present your expertise, meet with companies, and join the conversation. A special thanks goes to our friends at MITRE for hosting us and ensuring the event was a smooth-running success. Were you at our Outreach Days? Take a look inside an #MIT class! In our "Engineering Systems for Global Security" course, students go beyond theoretical designs and business plans; they engineer and build the solutions. And they don't just consider the end-user - they actively collaborate with leaders and operators from USSOCOM to gain a deep understanding of the challenges at hand.
