Hurricane Helene has devastated communities, leaving many without essential resources. Help us help wheelchair users rebuild and recover.
The goal of the Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities (MOPD) is to foster accessibility, full participation, and equal opportunities for people with disabilities, in all aspects of life, through systemic change, information and referral, education and training, public policy, and direct services. MOPD works to ensure that the rights of the disability community are equitably represented in all City services, programs, initiatives, and policies. MOPD is striving to make Chicago a world-class, disability-friendly city.

People with disabilities belong in every job and career where they want to be. The MOPD Career Center connects job seekers with disabilities with the supports they are looking for to find the jobs and careers they want. In honor of October, National Disability Employment Awareness Month, the U.S. Department of Labor reminds us that access to good jobs for all is a goal for all year, not just October. This month we will highlight some stories of job seekers who worked with our Career Center to find their jobs. And you can too, if you are 16 or older, live in Chicago and identify as having a disability! Call 312-746-5773 or email MOPDCareerCenter@cityofchicago.org to get started. https://lnkd.in/guwJGZR5 #NDEAM #AccessCareers #DisabilityEmployment #NDEAM2024
Voters with disabilities know that our vote matters. In Chicago, early voting begins on October 3 at the Downtown Supersite, and at early voting sites in all 50 wards on October 21. Make a plan to vote on or before Election Day, November 5! The Chicago Board of Elections provides this guide to accessibility for Chicago’s elections. If you have any accessibility questions, please call 312-269-7976 or email ADAaccess@chicagoelections.gov https://lnkd.in/gWbNU5FU
