About us
The Muslim Bar association of New York (MuBANY) is a member-driven bar association open to any interested lawyer or law student. MuBANY was created in 2006 to serve the educational, professional, and social needs of Muslim legal professionals and law students living and working in the New York metropolitan area. MuBANY accomplishes this by organizing educational, networking, and professional development events and services, by building relationships with other bar associations and legal organizations, and by assisting members of the larger New York Muslim community.

Thank you Muslim Bar Association of New York for awarding the Safe Harbor Clinic with the "Champion of Justice" award at your gala this year. We are so honored!
The Muslim Bar Association of New York (MuBANY) presented Brooklyn Law School’s Safe Harbor Project with its Champion of Justice award at its annual gala last week, honoring the clinic’s immigration work helping to secure asylum and/or humanitarian relief for hundreds of individuals and families. Founding Safe Harbor director Professor Stacy Caplow accepted the award on behalf of the clinic’s students, alumni, clients, and current director, Professor Faiza Sayed. Since 1997, Safe Harbor has interviewed and counseled clients, conducted international investigations, drafted documents and legal memoranda, participated in asylum interviews, conducted examination at Immigration Court hearings, and argued before the Court of Appeals.

What a wonderful night! The Muslim Bar Association of New York’s 2024 Gala left me renewed and inspired. The sense of community in the room was amazing. From meeting new law students to catching up with old friends — some going back to my childhood — I was so in the moment that I forgot to take pictures. But here is one of current and former Board members who were in attendance. Bar associations play such an important role in the legal profession, and I am so very proud to have colleagues like these. Congrats to the current Board and the Gala committee for all of their hard work. Let’s keep moving forward!
