Congrats to our President & CEO on his many accomplishments with the Ali Center over the past 100 days! Here's to many, many more!

This week, I completed 100 days as the President and CEO of the Muhammad Ali Center. Without question, this has been the busiest and most exciting 100 days of my career. Here are a few highlights: - Attended the ESPN ESPY Awards - Did more than 20 media interviews (tv, radio, newspaper, podcast, magazine and social media) - Enjoyed a welcome reception for me at the Muhammad Ali Center with 700 of my best friends - Gave nearly 10 speeches - Enjoyed the Pump Gala in Los Angeles with Snoop Dogg and some of my favorite sports icons and Dana & David Pump - Attended a world-class boxing extravaganza with a performance by Eminem Marshall Mathers hosted by SELA, courtesy of Turki Alalshikh - Was honored at the Tabor 100 Gala in Seattle with a generous check from mayor Bruce Harrell for the Muhammad Ali Center - Met with Los Angeles mayor Karen Bass and other local leaders like Renata Simril to discuss the Ali Center and the 2028 Olympics - Participated in the launch of DyslexicU in New York City with Sir Richard Branson, Kate Griggs and the Made By Dyslexia team - Reopened the Muhammad Ali Center after closing for two-weeks due to a fire in the parking garage - Announced Shaquille O'Neal, Bryan Stevenson, Nile Rodgers and Dawne Gee as our honorees for the Muhammad Ali Humanitarian Awards - Had more than 50 one-on-one meetings with Ali Center staff, board members and community leaders - Had a street named after me in West Louisville - Hosted a Muhammad Ali Center staff retreat with Lettie Bailey-Johnson 🌱 Values based leader/Human Behavior Coach. Whew! That’s a lot. Stay tuned to see what’s next. It’s going to be exciting! We’re excited to celebrate our Landmarks of Excellence Hall of Fame Award recipient DeVone Holt! As President and CEO of the Muhammad Ali Center, DeVone is responsible for managing and promoting the legacy of Muhammad Ali, one of the world’s most iconic figures. His role involves guiding the center in its mission to foster respect, inspire generations of changemakers, and advance social justice. Prior to joining the Muhammad Ali Center, DeVone served as the Chief External Affairs Officer at Goodwill Industries of Kentucky. During his five years at Goodwill, he helped the nonprofit organization turn a 20-acre inner-city brownfield site into a $120 million Opportunity Campus in Louisville's most underserved community. He also served as Superintendent of Kentucky's very first high school for adults, which Goodwill opened in 2022. He also previously served as the National Director of Customer Engagement for ResCare Workforce Services and the Special Assistant to the Superintendent of Jefferson County Public Schools. As the former West Louisville Economic Development Director for Louisville's Chamber of Commerce, DeVone also helped create $400 million in new business investments and over 1,000 jobs for the city’s inner community. "DeVone's significant contributions to communications, coupled with his passion for social justice, have made a lasting impact on both his community and the field of public relations,” his nominator said. Join us to celebrate DeVone at our Landmarks of Excellence Awards on Thursday, Oct. 17. Purchase tickets here: https://bit.ly/3TmCQ8y

The party couldn’t start until the Muhammad Ali Center Muhammad Ali Center walked in! Yesterday, the University of Louisville football team honored the 50th anniversary of the Rumble in the Jungle fight between Muhammad Ali and George Foreman during their home game against Southern Methodist University. They rolled out the red carpet for our Muhammad Ali Center staff to kick off the game with the opening coin toss and sounding the horn to start the game. Although the game didn’t end the way us Cardinal fans wanted it to, it was a beautiful celebration of the legacy of Muhammad Ali! #RumbleYoungManRumble

“Recognize how every moment of our journey is an important part of the growth of our soul.” - Muhammad Ali In the early morning hours of Wednesday, September 18 there was a fire reported in the parking structure attached to the Muhammad Ali Center. Louisville Fire and LMPD responded quickly to minimize damage. We're grateful to share the interior of the Ali Center and all of the history housed within were unharmed by the fire. The HVAC system used for the Center was greatly impacted. Additionally, some smoke from the fire entered the building. As a result, the Center will unfortunately be closed to the general public until further notice. We are especially thankful to Louisville Fire, PARC, LMPD, and our vendors for their quick, professional response that prevented this fire from doing more harm than it did. The preservation of Muhammad's physical legacy is due to the diligent work of our curation team and a testament to the necessity of their work. We are currently developing a plan to fully reopen the Center that can be supported by your donations. To support our work during the closure and ahead, please visit alicenter.org/donate
