Hello friends, I'm beyond excited—and honestly, a bit nervous—to share something that has been two years in the making. With the early support of AI2 Incubator, Meridian Street Capital, Inspired Capital, Precursor Ventures and MultiCare Capital Partners, and the thought partnership of an incredibly talented, committed team, together we’d like to introduce PreemptiveAI: a Foundation Model that will transform health monitoring and prediction. By analyzing biomedical signals from smartphones and wearable devices, PreemptiveAI provides a comprehensive view of the body's physiological and pathological state. This unlocks the potential to predict and prevent disease, but also has far-reaching implications for patient care, precision medicine, and drug development. Years ago, as a wide-eyed college freshman, I aspired to pursue a career in medicine. However, I let my football coach convince me that I couldn't manage a pre-med class load as a Division I athlete. Ever since graduation, I've devoted my career to digital health: striving to push healthcare beyond its reactive past into a proactive, preemptive future, all the while making amends for letting someone else define my limitations just as the consequences of unanticipated illness limits us all. I am proud of what we’ve built and humbled by the difference I know we’re going to be able to make for so many. Another fantastic piece out of Bessemer, introducing the new term Services-as-Software. An under-emphasized component of the article is around just how 'cumbersome' integrations really are, and how that has historically been such a drag on software adoptions. The team rightly emphasizes the role of regulation in market creation and innovation. Fascinating study. If we believe conversational AI agents will soon be playing a significant role in healthcare, can we 'prime' users to have more positive interactions with those agents? Should we? Or will users already be 'primed' by the conversation taking place globally on the implications of generative AI? As many companies seek to introduce conversational agents into healthcare jobs, their success will depend greatly on user experience and the conversion of that experience into a measurable and desired behavior/outcome. Understanding how we can equip these agents with an appropriate bedside manner and prime users for a desired experience will be strongly differentiating. #healthai
