The 2024 Nation’s Report Card (#NAEP) will be released in early 2025, instead of fall 2024, to allow time for the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) to study if there are any impacts from changing assessment devices. States and TUDA districts were informed of these changes in April 2023. We applaud the innovation of our partner NCES in making NAEP data even more accessible to our audiences!
Last week, statistician Ebony Walton discussed some new National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) innovations in reporting for NAEP with the Council of the Great City Schools. Among them, a new Opportunity to Learn Dashboard will be released next year to provide a deeper look at 2024 NAEP results regarding student absenteeism, academic supports, and more. #CGCS24

Civics plays a critical role in helping students participate in our democracy, yet we know from #NAEP that most 8th graders struggle in the subject. #NAEP survey data also found that 17% of 8th graders reported they spent little to no time studying the U.S. Constitution. https://lnkd.in/edR8xyC8

We're wary of potential bias in assessments but we do feel comfortable that we can say, without bias, that the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) has the best statisticians! Happy #WorldStatisticsDay!

"Only 49% of students who took the most recent #NAEP exam said they have a class that is mainly focused on civics or the U.S. government."
Students want more civics education, but too few schools teach it
