About us
NAMI of Greater Cleveland (NAMI GC) is a local affiliate of NAMI with approximately 800 consumer, family, professional and organizational members. We provide services to those with serious mental illness, such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, clinical depression and anxiety disorders and their family members through a variety of support and education programs, including information and referral, support groups, and family and consumer education courses. Volunteer consumers and family members provide almost all of the services at NAMI GC.

Motivational interviewing is oriented around the idea that the best way to influence another person’s behavior is by respecting their independence and creating space for them to explore their own motivation for change. Join NAMI Greater Cleveland for Motivational Interviewing: Skills for Families and Caregivers on Monday, October 21 from 12pm to 1:30pm via Zoom. Facilitated by Madeline Hodgman Korth, MSSA, LISW-S, a licensed independent social worker and psychoeducation presenter with NAMI Greater Cleveland, this presentation will provide an overview of the communication skills associated with motivational interviewing, with a particular focus on applying these skills to scenarios experienced by family members and other caregivers to individuals with mental illnesses such as substance use disorder, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia.
