When a plastic bottle enters the ocean, it doesn’t stay a bottle forever! Instead, plastics break up into smaller and smaller pieces in the ocean. These microplastics can be swallowed by tiny marine animals, and when larger animals eat those animals, they’re unknowingly eating plastic too. Ocean wildlife that eat too many microplastics could suffer serious side effects, including internal injuries, feeding less, and even serious behavior changes that threaten the animal’s health and long-term survival. Marine life should not have to pay the price for our plastic crisis! Add your name to call for global leaders to take urgent action to protect our oceans from single-use plastic today: https://oceana.ly/3AREtEF

🎉 A WIN FOR THE ENVIRONMENT: As of today, Washington State has banned plastic foam foodware and foam coolers! Foam is one of the most common plastics found polluting our beaches and coasts, so this new ban is a significant victory for the environment, our health, and our future. 🌎 We applaud the state of Washington for demonstrating its leadership in the fight against the growing plastic pollution crisis!

GREAT NEWS: South Carolina State Parks has announced their plans to quickly eliminate single-use plastic bags and water bottles from their retail stores! Two garbage trucks’ worth of plastic enter the ocean every minute. This is a big win for wildlife and for our #healthyoceaneconomy! 🌎 The National Parks Service should act swiftly and follow South Carolina’s lead. 🌊 Add your name now to protect our parks and wildlife from single-use plastics: https://lnkd.in/edX5sNQV
