Last night, ULI Washington hosted the Gateway to ULI Washington event at the University of the District of Columbia for students, alumni, and participants in their CAUSES program. Attendees had the chance to learn about ULI Washington, the real estate industry, and valuable career insights from an impressive panel: Marcel Acosta, Irene Kwon, and Ellen Klasson, moderated by Anna McCorvey, RA.   The panel shared expertise on topics like networking, building an effective job search, and critical skills for new graduates. After the panel presentation and Q&A, students joined roundtable discussions with panelists, committee members, and volunteers, allowing for one-on-one conversations that addressed individual questions. Architecture professor Matthew Bell, FAIA FCNU and alum Christian Calleri, AIA, ICAA, CNU presented Perkins Eastman DC's concept plan for the The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts area at AIA|DC + WAF last Wednesday, Oct. 9. The plan proposes a new vision for a park landscape that would connect the National Mall and Rock Creek Park as a continuous experience from south of M Street NW to the Lincoln Memorial. The initiative, developed in collaboration with the National Capital Planning Commission, will expand access for pedestrian and bike-friendly mobility, create new development opportunities, and provide new open space and locations for monuments.

We’re thrilled that last summer’s Beyond Granite: Pulling Together exhibition on the National Mall received a 2024 Vision Award from The Committee of 100 on the Federal City. Congratulations to the National Capital Planning Commission (NCPC) for receiving the 2024 American Planning Association-National Capital Area Chapter award for Outstanding Planning Tool! The recognition of the Federal Workforce Scenario Plan is a testament to the collaborative efforts with the HR&A Advisors, Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments, The Schreifer Group, and Wells + Associates. HR&A Advisors is proud to have played a role in this project, conducting a thorough analysis to assess the impacts of federal telework on the National Capital Region. Our study explored the effects on federal real estate, workforce demographics, residential patterns, and transportation, while considering sustainability and equity. The scenario planning approach equips agencies with a valuable tool to navigate the evolving landscape of teleworking policies.
