Defending human dignity. Opposing sexual exploitation.
About us
The National Center on Sexual Exploitation (NCOSE) is the leading national organization exposing the links between all forms of sexual exploitation such as child sexual abuse, prostitution, sex trafficking, image-based sexual abuse, and the public health harms of pornography. NCOSE is a nonpartisan and nonsectarian non-profit that embraces a mission to defend human dignity and to oppose sexual exploitation. The National Center on Sexual Exploitation (NCOSE) believes in a world free from sexual abuse and exploitation. We believe every human being deserves the opportunity to live life to its fullest potential: to pursue dreams and ambitions; express creativity and hone talents; seek beauty, truth, and faith; experience hope, joy, and love with family and friends—to thrive. Such a vision requires not only individuals and institutions that work towards its realization but also a culture that embraces its responsibility to preserve and protect human flourishing. We aspire to create that culture. To accomplish this vision of abolition from sexual exploitation, NCOSE operates on the cutting edge of policy activism to combat corporate and government policies that foster exploitation, advance public education and empowerment, and spur united action by leading the movement through the international Coalition to End Sexual Exploitation. Areas of Concentration: *Pornography *Sex Trafficking of adults and children *Sexualization of Children *Sexual Assault and Violence *Child Pornography *Child Sexual Abuse *Prostitution *Violence Against Women *Sexual Addictions and Compulsivity *Sexually Oriented Businesses *Sexual Coercion *Image-based sexual abuse

🗣️Sexual consent can’t be bought‼️ The very nature of prostitution is that sex buyers use money to persuade prostituted persons into accepting unwanted sex. If the sex was wanted, no money would be required. The gold standard of ‘enthusiastic consent’ is meaningless in prostitution. A reluctant concession is not that same as genuinely wanting sex. The #MeToo movement overlooks this aspect of consent, but NCOSE is committed to upholding the truth that consent can’t be bought. 📢 🤝 Take action and help us expose this blind spot by sharing the blog! 🔗 Click here to read the full blog: https://buff.ly/4f474Gj #EndDemand #EndExploitation #NCOSE #NCOSEBlog #NCOSE #Consent #MeToo

🗣️Demand fuels sexual exploitation!! Ending exploitation means ending demand🤝 Sex trafficking exists because the male demand for people in prostitution outweighs the ‘supply’ of willing people The marketplace has an innate predatory dependence on targeting vulnerable populations. For most people, prostitution is NOT a choice! 💬 Share YOUR thoughts on demand fueling the sex trade👇 visit buff.ly/3AmAEaH to read the full blog post‼️ #StoptheDemand #EndExploitation #NCOSEBlog #NCOSE #EndSexTrafficking

New blog post is out now‼️ Should we normalize prostitution as “work”? No, prostitution is NOT the same as being an athlete or a secretary. 💭Why? 1. Equating prostitution as a job invalidates the trauma of rape and sexual assault. 2. Prostitution is radically different from real work. 3. Psychological traumas should not be a consequence of work. NCOSE’s new blog post is a part of a series about exposing the myths from the pro-prostitution lobby. Rather than legitimizing prostitution as a form of work, we need to recognize it for the exploitation that it is. 📢 Read the full blog post and share your thoughts💬 Click here: https://buff.ly/3C1hIis Consider reading part 1 first: https://buff.ly/3YpVnDP

🗣️ You need to know about these 5 different types of image-based sexual abuse (IBSA)‼️ IBSA is a broad term that encompasses the creation, manipulation, theft, extortion, threatened or actual distribution, or the use of images for a sexual purpose without meaningful consent. 1. AI-generated forged pornography 2. Non-consensual distribution of sexually explicit material (NCDSEM) 3. Sexual extortion (sextortion) 4. Recording sexual violence (RSV) 5. Video voyeurism (VV) According to a survey from the Cyber Civil Rights Initiative, 1 in 8 respondents had been a victim of IBSA in one form or another. It is important to understand the different types of IBSA in order to recognize victimization and build solutions💪 It only takes an instant for anyone to become a victim of this exploitation. TAKE ACTION: ask Congress to pass legislation combatting IBSA! Roblox just announced new child safety changes. After 2 years on our Dirty Dozen List, this announcement confirms how dangerous the gaming platform really is. Roblox just made an announcement. Will they be cleaning up their platform after the horrific findings by Hindenburg Research? Nope! They are putting the onus on parents, duplicating the approach of Snapchat, TikTok and Instagram and offering parent accounts. The update states: "We’re changing the way parents manage their child’s experience on Roblox by introducing Roblox accounts with parent privileges. After linking an account to their child’s, parents can view and update parental controls for their child all from their own device. Parents also get access to insights about their child’s Roblox usage, such as their daily screen time and on-platform friends. In most regions, these features will be available to parents of children under the age of 13." Why do these companies continually task parents with the impossible? Why are parents having to protect our kids from harms that the platform itself allows for? Thank you to Chris McKenna for alerting me to this update from Roblox. Get ready for the flood of news articles celebrating Roblox's efforts to protect kids! We cannot fall for this gaslighting and need to continue to demand that tech platforms start prioritizing our children's safety.

NCOSE found “A Tsunami of ‘Nudifying Apps’ Advertised on Meta Platforms.” These ads are fueling an ecosystem of AI-generated sexually exploitative material. Nudifying apps are a form of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) when the images depict children, and a form of image-based sexual abuse when they depict adults. 1 in 10 kids say their friends or classmates have used AI to generate CSAM of other children. Meta is on NCOSE’s 2024 dirty dozen list for failing to implement necessary changes to stop the promotion of material like this.
