About us
National Farm to School Network works to ensure equitable access to local food and nutrition education in order to improve children’s health, strengthen family farms and cultivate vibrant communities. We serve as a resource, advocacy and networking hub for communities across the country who bring local food, gardens, and food and nutrition education into schools and early care and education settings. Farm to school empowers children and their families to engage in their local food systems, while strengthening local economies and contributing to vibrant communities.

📣 New grant opportunity for organizations working to connect BIPOC producers with large-scale institutional procurement opportunities, including schools! Check it out below ⬇
Our new round of grant funding kicks off today! We’re pleased to offer both planning (up to $25k) and implementation (up to $250k) grants to community-led organizations, Tribal Nations, and community-based coalitions strengthening food systems and fostering the leadership and empowerment of Tribal, Indigenous, Black, Latinx, Asian, and immigrant communities in equitable food procurement. With these grants, Growing Justice Fund seeks to catalyze change that will deliver economic benefits to historically marginalized communities and help close the equity gap for smaller food producers and businesses — while contributing to wealth-building and cultural sustainability in their communities. For more details on eligible projects and organizations, visit https://lnkd.in/eUC4rKuk, and register for our informational webinar on October 23 at 10am PT/1pm ET (live interpretation and a recording will be available): bit.ly/gj24-webinar Please help spread the word and share this post widely!

In celebration of Farm to School Month, we’re highlighting the incredible work of farm and sea to school programs across the country! This week, we are shining a spotlight on the Petersburg Borough School District in Southeast Alaska, where local seafood and fresh produce are transforming school meals. Led by the dedicated Carlee Johnson McIntosh, the district works closely with local partners like Farragut Farms and OBI Seafoods to ensure students are not only eating healthier but also learning about their region’s rich food traditions. From sustainably sourced fish to local vegetables delivered by boat, the program is a celebration of Alaska’s unique natural resources and cultural diversity. 🌱🌊 Read more about how Carlee and her team are building a stronger connection between students and the local food system here ➡️ https://bit.ly/47W0izz

Happy Hispanic Heritage Month! In our latest blog post, we're excited to highlight how three National Farm to School Network Partners: The Edible Schoolyard Project, IDEA Public Schools and Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD are celebrating with delicious meals, school gardens, and hands-on learning. From tamales to salsa, these programs are connecting students to their roots and bringing the school community together—one meal at a time. “The food students get at school may be the only hot meal that some kids eat. With food, it’s important that they are introduced to new items, but equally important that they see foods they eat at home.” — Habraham Lopez ➡️ Read the blog here: https://bit.ly/3Y7LwST
