  • The League's Advancing Municipal Leaders program is currently in the midst of its fall course offerings across North Carolina. 🎒 Last week, AML hosted HR 101 and Rules of Procedure in New Bern. These courses are an amazing opportunity for municipal employees to build a foundation of understanding about the world of municipal government and continue to build on that foundation by getting one-on-one time with our League experts. 📝 ⚖️ There are plenty more offerings scattered throughout the state this fall. Please join us: https://buff.ly/4cZTthu

Senior Assistant General Counsel at the North Carolina League of Municipalities

Today I had the privilege of presenting on rules of procedure for elected officials with Baxter Wells III. It's encouraging to see elected officials and staff take an interest in making a difference at the local level. We also had a chance to promote the League's Commit to Civility program. This is a multi-step program that showcases a city or town council's pledge to civil conduct and leadership. See the following link for more information: https://lnkd.in/dWRG2dbA This is why I joined the NC League of Municipalities!

  • Join us in Indian Trail, NC on September 10 for our Shield Services "Dangerous Crossroads Ahead: The Intersection of the First and Fourth Amendments." 🛡️ Officers in the field are increasingly encountering citizens boldly asserting what they think are constitutional rights guaranteed by the First and Fourth Amendments. This course examines the crossroads where these two constitutional principles intersect and provides practical tips dealing with people who may be legitimately exercising constitutional rights, and others who are actively trying to bait officers into overreactions. 👮♀️ Register here: https://buff.ly/4fX4cMj
