NEDS was on hand this week in San Diego for the Neurocritical Care Society #NCS2024 annual meeting, engaging with neurocritical care professionals from around the world. We were pleased to have 2 posters accepted for presentation highlighting the importance of OPO and hospital collaboration to increase donor age criteria and expand organ utilization. We were also honored to connect with Dr. Vanessa Britto (pictured) who gave an amazing tribute to her late husband Dr. Galen V. Henderson on his contributions to the field of neurocritical care and beyond. She acknowledged his dedication to donation throughout his esteemed career and as an Associate Medical Director at NEDS. Thank you to all who attended New England Donor Services’ fourth annual national symposium on Equity in Transplantation: The Role of Community Health to the Pathway of Transplantation. The symposium featured an extraordinary panel, including Tanjala Purnell, PhD (The Johns Hopkins University); Jeron Ravin, JD (Swope Health); Pablo A. Quintero Pinzon, MD (Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center); Abraham Cohen Bucay, MD (Massachusetts General Hospital); Katherine Rizzolo, MD (Boston University); and Dave White. The symposium addressed #equity in transplantation, and speakers presented on effective initiatives to eliminate transplant disparities. The symposium is just one piece of NEDS' continuing commitment to social equity and to driving projects designed to reduce health disparities in the communities we serve.

  • New England Donor Services is proud to be part of NH DMV staff training and sharing important information about donation and the importance of registering. Most registered donors register through the driver’s license process and so the work of DMV staff is vitally important to increasing the number of life-saving donations and transplants. At the training, New England Donor Services Donation Coordinator, Dave Teune was recognized for his great work as a NH State Team leader! Thank you to NH DMV Director John Marasco for the opportunity to talk with DMV staff.

New England Donor Services President and CEO Alexandra Glazier met with Massachusetts Congressman Stephen Lynch yesterday to discuss NEDS’ work serving the transplant patients and donor families of the Commonwealth. Congressman Lynch has been a long-time supporter of donation and an advocate for those awaiting transplant. NEDS thanks him for his leadership and his continued support of NEDS and our life-saving cause.
