Nicklaus Children’s hosted the Perry Initiative, a program that encourages women to pursue careers in orthopedics and engineering. Pediatric orthopedic surgeon Dr. Monica Payares was the host of the two-day conference that provides hands-on learning to medical school and high school students interested in careers in orthopedics and engineering. The students had the opportunity to meet and learn from female orthopedic surgeons and engineers and participate in hands-on modules that included placing casts, cutting bones, and practicing suturing. BOO! 👻 We’re a little bit early, but thanks to our local partner Spirit Halloween, our children and families were able to have a ghostly good time at our Halloween Party.   Spirit Halloween's Spirit of Children campaign supports Nicklaus Children's Hospital's Child Life department and their work to provide patients with fun activities and games to lift their spirits while they are under our roof.
