At Nonprofit New York, we value racial equity and acknowledge the massive racial wealth and funding gap affecting Black-led #nonprofits. According to Brooklyn Org, #BIPOC-led organizations receive just 4% of philanthropic funding nationally. In honor of #BlackPhilanthrophyMonth, we want to boost awareness of these racial disparities and urge the nonprofit and #philanthropy communities to do the work to close the gap.
Did you know that the budgets of Black-led organizations are 24% smaller than their white-led counterparts? Black Philanthropy Month, celebrated in August, calls attention to entrenched disparities like this and creates an opportunity to celebrate the power and potential of what racial justice giving can achieve. At Brooklyn Org, we’ve compiled a list of facts on the racial wealth gap, the racial funding gap, and statistics on charitable giving among Black communities on our blog — and this month, we're sharing the stories of small, local Black-led nonprofits across our social media. 📰 Learn more: https://lnkd.in/eC9B96VX • • • • • #BrooklynOrg #SpreadLoveBrooklyn #brooklyn #brooklynbridge #brooklynny #brooklynnyc #spreadloveitsthebrooklynway #brooklynlove #newyork #nyc #ilovebrooklyn #welovebrooklyn #brooklyngohard #CommunityLed #BlackPhilanthropyMonth #BlackPhilanthropyMonth2024 #BPM #BPM2024 Black Philanthropy Month Jocelynne Rainey, Ed.D.
