New York City is taking a significant step towards a cleaner, greener future by phasing out the use of No. 4 heating oil in boilers. Starting July 2025 for municipal buildings and July 2027 for all other buildings, the use of No. 4 oil will be prohibited under Local Law 32. The Department of Buildings stopped issuing and renewing permits for boilers using No. 4 oil as of June 30, 2024. Non-compliance could result in penalties of up to $10,000. NYC Accelerator is here to help you transition smoothly. They offer free, personalized guidance on switching from No. 4 oil and complying with building energy laws. 🏢💡 Learn more and get started today: https://on.nyc.gov/3KJxjnC #Sustainability #NYC #CleanEnergy #BuildingManagement #EnvironmentalImpact

Today, the City of New York announced the launch of the GreenHOUSE Fund to help building owners comply with #LocalLaw97 while driving critical emissions reduction projects in affordable housing. Starting next spring, offset certificates will be available for purchase at $268 per ton of carbon emissions. Proceeds will go directly to reducing emissions in rent-regulated apartments and low-income co-ops, improving air quality, and advancing our decarbonization goals. This program flows through the Resilient & Equitable Decarbonization Initiative (REDi), a joint effort with NYC Department of Housing Preservation & Development and NYSERDA, supporting a pipeline of affordable housing projects ready for retrofitting. The GreenHOUSE Fund builds on the success of the City's “Getting 97 Done” plan and the NYC Accelerator program.
