The Mechanicville Area Community ServicesCenter provides food programs, family services, and youth development in our Mechanicville division and we were delighted to support it again this year with a donation to help it meet the needs of Saratoga County.
About us
New York State Electric & Gas (NYSEG) was founded in 1852, and today serves 905,005 electricity customers and 271,547 natural gas customers across more than 40% of upstate New York. At NYSEG, we've always been dedicated to the communities we serve, and strive daily to provide safe, reliable service to customers. That's why we provide more than electricity. We spearhead conservation efforts, encourage economic growth, assist area businesses and fund important charity organizations through established and often one-of-a-kind programs.

An important part of utility work is the mutual aid we provide to other companies and that they provide to us during emergencies. Last week, Central Hudson had a gas incident and reached out for help. We sent fitters from our gas operations, as did National Grid and Con Edison, to manually turn their customers' gas service back on. Our 12 fitters performed more than 100 relights in a 10 hour period to make sure Central Hudson's customers were restored. It takes a well oiled machine to achieve that kind of success.

As part of our commitment to climate leadership, we are working on increased integration of renewable energy onto our grid through substation and transmission line upgrades. We recently worked with Dashiell Corporation, Madison Operations (A Quanta Services Company) and J.W. Didado Electricto measure various 230kV lattice tower types for larger conductor and structural loads to accommodate more green energy.

It’s electric! ⚡️Our President and CEO Trish Nilsen joined our line workers and community leaders in our Liberty division and checked out our new live line trailers that will help educate students, municipalities and our community partners about live line safety and the work we do to deliver safe and reliable service to homes and businesses.
