Here's some exciting news 📰 in the world of nuclear science! Scientists just got a little closer to discovering element 120. Researchers at Berkeley Lab have successfully created two atoms of element 116, setting the stage for the potential creation of 120 — which would be the heaviest element so far. This is a collaboration Oak Ridge National Laboratory is honored to join! Learn more ⤵️

Deputy Laboratory Director for Science & Technology, Oak Ridge National Laboratory; Executive Vice President for Science and Technology, UT-Battelle
I am proud of the leading role Oak Ridge National Laboratory and Georgia Institute of Technology — one of our core university partners — are playing in this critical effort for the region and nation. Collaboration is essential to moving the needle in the #CleanEnergy transition, and we’re excited to be working across the Southeast to do that.
JUST RELEASED: New report details #decarbonization strategies that recognize the unique opportunities and challenges of the southeast region of the United States. Last November, community members and regional experts banded together during the Southeast Decarbonization Workshop to develop decarbonization strategies for the southeast region of the U.S. During the workshop, staff from Oak Ridge National Laboratory and Georgia Tech Research Institute led discussions about how to pursue a clean energy transition in a region that is emerging as a hub for #cleanenergy industries. Findings from these discussions are now available in the new SE Decarbonization Workshop Report – read more: https://lnkd.in/e5P8dFEq
