This week, Oceantic Network team members, Liz Burdock, Sam Tirone, and Sarah Jefferson led a Global Gateway delegation of U.S. supply chain companies to Aberdeen, Scotland for the Floating Offshore Wind Conference. With over 2,400 attendees and 180 exhibitors, delegates had the opportunity to connect with many floating offshore wind leaders, exchange information, and talk about the future of floating offshore wind in Europe and the U.S. We are excited to see these business collaborations come to fruition! Additionally, our group visited ORE Catapult’s Floating Wind Innovation Centre to learn more about their efforts in the development, testing, and qualification of critical floating wind technologies. Delegates also had the opportunity to head offshore to see Kincardine floating wind farm. A special thanks to our delegates for joining the #OceanticTeam for a week of networking and learning more about floating. We had a fantastic turnout at the U.S. Offshore Wind Market Briefing – North Carolina in Charlotte! 🌊 Dr. Saffeer Kahn of University of North Carolina at Charlotte and CLEANcarolinas provided an overview of the CLEANcarolinas initiative and the large ecosystem of partners they are creating in the Carolinas to progress offshore wind and its supply chain. #OceanticTeam member Sam Salustro kicked things off with an insightful market overview, sharing updates from the #offshorewind industry. We also had two stellar panels—the first panel highlighted NC’s strength as a manufacturing hub and why it's a key player in OSW-this panel featured speakers Caleb Strother from Nucor Corporation, Murray Fisher, Ph.d from Gulf Wind Technology, and John Hardin from North Carolina Department of Commerce’s Office of Science, Technology and Innovation. The second panel dived into economic growth, small business opportunities, and job creation that are possible within the state from offshore wind development featuring speakers Arketa H. of ARCHCORP, Michele Querry from Chambers for Innovation and Clean Energy, and Katlyn Coyne from the Carolina Small Business Development Fund. Thank you to our speakers and thanks to UNC-Charlotte, their Division of Research at UNC Charlotte, and CLEANCarolinas for hosting us at the Dubois Center! Let’s keep the momentum going!

Offshore wind accounted for between 40%-70% of Rhode Island shipyard Senesco Marine’s work over the past year and yielded considerable employee growth. The company is about to deliver the fifth of six aluminum CTVs for the offshore wind industry and is now looking for the next contracts coming down the pipeline. Oceantic Network spoke with Senesco about its experience building for offshore wind and what’s on deck next for U.S. shipyards, in this latest edition of the Offshore Wind at Work newsletter. Last week, Jen Brock and Nancy Kirshner Rodriguez represented Oceantic Network at the United Brotherhood of Carpenters & Joiners of America's first National Renewable Energy conference, held at their incredible International Training Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. It was great to educate ourselves, find synergies, and look ahead to the many opportunities in offshore wind, as well as solar and hydropower. The attendees were equally split between carpenters, signatory contractors, and industry professionals. It was exciting to see so many of the U.S. offshore wind developers in attendance, focusing on partnerships that exist and others yet to be created. Did you know the UBC now has a dive center certification training facility in New Jersey? It is being used by many of the trades and is also focused on engaging the next generation with opportunities related to becoming a pile driver or millwright. The Canadian government said last week it is ready to "seize the generational opportunity of offshore wind.” With U.S. auctions set for the Gulf of Maine later this month, and Canada passing framework legislation to lease in 2026, a new geographic market is set to take center stage between New England and Atlantic Canada. Read the full article here 👉 https://heyor.ca/gUts1w The combined 20+ GW opportunity will inevitably see suppliers on both sides crossing borders to support buildout. Where will each service be in high demand? What will collaboration look like and how can companies leverage their existing footprints to serve both markets? Join Oceantic Network and key companies next week on October 16, 2024, in Portland, Maine, for the inaugural New England & Atlantic Canada OSW Forum. Learn about the Canadian market, explore cross-border opportunities, and better understand how both countries can work collaboratively to grow the regional offshore wind industry 👉 https://lnkd.in/gD5yU4St

Rhode Island’s Port of Providence (Waterson Terminal Services, LLC) is a buzzing hive of offshore wind activity. It’s home to the nation’s first advanced foundation component assembly facility – operated by Riggs Distler and developer Ørsted – as well the first U.S. offshore wind submarine cable terminal via subsea cable firm WIND. It hosts component warehousing, operations & maintenance activities, vessel services, and has supported critical steps in constructing both South Fork Wind and now, Revolution Wind. But above all, it’s where hundreds of individuals – many of whom are local to the area – come to work daily. ProvPort is just one of the 25 U.S. ports Oceantic Network has identified as currently involved in offshore wind, or undergoing development to support the industry, with even more in the pipeline. In this edition of the Offshore Wind at Work Newsletter, we take a boots-on-the-ground look at ProvPort and Portsmouth Marine Terminal (which is supporting Dominion Energy’s Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind) to better understand how they’ve positioned themselves for success in this growing industry. #OSWatWork #OffshoreJobs #OffshoreWind
