OCSRI's own Fallon Raper was recently featured on News On 6 to talk about high-risk breast cancer. As a nurse practitioner at the OCSRI Breast Clinic, Fallon provides patient-centered care from initial screenings to survivorship support. Fallon emphasized the importance for women to consult their primary care doctors by age 30 to assess if they are at high risk for breast cancer. Women who meet this criteria, often due to family history or other factors, may require earlier or more frequent screening compared to those at lower risk. "It's important to know when you need to begin your imaging because if it needs to begin sooner, we can hopefully catch cancer sooner should one develop. The outcomes for women when we do catch breast cancer early are better."
