With its "atoms-to-systems" approach, the 🆕 OE-funded Grid Storage Launchpad (GSL) helps create safer, more cost-effective, and longer-duration storage. Like phone batteries give us mobility, grid-scale storage offers temporal freedom–storing renewable energy & boosting resilience. 🚀✨ The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) dedicated the GSL at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in Richland, WA, on August 13, 2024. This 93,000 sq. ft. facility is designed to fast-track next-gen grid energy storage technology, critical for a clean, resilient future. 🔋 The GSL will play a key role in DOE's Long-Duration Energy Storage Shot, aiming for 10+ hours of storage and 90% cost reduction by 2030. 📉 Check out this blog by OE's Deputy Assistant Secretary for Energy Storage, Eric Hsieh, to learn more: https://bit.ly/3YgqW35
